Director Shankar and Lyca Productions have been at loggerheads for a while now. The producer, Subhaskaran, filed a case in the court over the completion of Indian 2, directed by Shankar. Last year in February, the shooting of Indian 2 came to an abrupt halt when a crane fell on the tent leaving three people dead and several others injured. After that, the filming got postponed due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Producer Subhaskaran filed a complaint with the Madras High Court asking Shankar to complete Indian 2 before moving on to his other projects.
The case came up for hearing today, June 30, and the Madras High Court has appointed a special judge named Bhanumathi to resolve the issue. Lyca Productions wanted Shankar to finish the Indian 2 shooting in a month, but Shankar said that he needs at least three months to complete the film. He also revealed that portions involving actor Vivekh need to reshot because he passed away due to a heart attack. Hence, he sought time to complete the film. Meanwhile, Shankar has signed a film with actor Ram Charan and Anniyan Hindi remake with Ranveer Singh. These two films will commence later this year and next year.
