Malayalam Director Jude Anthany Joseph Asserts That Antony Varghese is 'Ungrateful' As He Backed Off After Receiving Rs. 10 Lakhs

Malayalam filmmaker Jude Anthany Joseph has accused actor Antony Varghese, of taking an advance of Rs. 10 lakh and opting out of a film project. In an interview with Movie World Media, Jude expressed his disappointment in Antony, saying that he felt 'cheated' by the actor. Jude alleged that Antony took the amount for his sister's wedding and then backed out of the project 18 days before the film's commencement.

Jude said about Antony, “It is not fine to forget where you come from and be ungrateful. We are talking about Shane Nigam and Srinath Bhasi, who have been accused of consuming drugs. That’s not the real problem. The biggest problem is the lack of humanity. There is someone in the industry named Antony Varghese. Everyone thinks he is a very good person. There was a film I was supposed to produce with Pepe. It was directed by one of my associates. Varghese took an advance of Rs. 10 lakh from the film’s co-producer and my friend Arvind for his sister’s wedding and then, 18 days before the commencement of the film, he opted out."

Antony Varghese made his acting debut with Lijo Jose Pellissery directed Angamaly Diaries. He is also known for his performances in the critically acclaimed films Jallikattu and Poovan.

Jude Anthany Joseph is known for directing films like Om Shanti Oshana and Oru Muthassi Gadha. His latest release, 2018, is a disaster drama based on the 2018 Kerala floods and has been receiving critical acclaim. In its opening weekend, the film grossed over Rs. 12 Cr. from the Kerala market.

The Malayalam film industry has been in the news recently for the alleged drug consumption and supply by some of its members. Actors Shane Nigam and Srinath Bhasi have also been accused of consuming drugs. However, Jude emphasized that the biggest issue in the industry is the lack of humanity and ungrateful behavior of some of its members.
