Malayalam cinema is celebrating the birthday of our own Megastar Mammootty. The actor, who recently completed his 50 years in cinema, is celebrating his 70th birthday today.
He blesses the screen with his tremendous charm and creating different personalities effortlessly. In his illustrious career, Mammootty has received three National Awards.
He is the only actor to earn this award twice in the same year for his roles in two films. This was for Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha and Mathilukal in 1989 and Vidheyan and Ponthan Mada in 1994.
Recently, Mammootty celebrated his 50 years of cinema life. Mammootty made his acting debut in a scene with Bahadur in the movie Anubhavangal Paalichakal released on August 6, 1971. Mammootty initially appeared in insignificant roles.
Mammootty’s career got a breakthrough with the film Mela directed by KG George in 1980. He has won the National Award for Best Actor three times in his 50 years of acting. Apart from this, Mammootty has won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor five times and the Filmfare (South Indian) Award 12 times.
On the work front, Mammootty’s upcoming films include Bhishma Parvam, Puzhu, and CBI Five. Bhishma Parvam is a big-budget film directed by Amal Neerad. Bhishmaparvam's next schedule can start only when the shooting in Kerala is fully set. Mammootty and Parvathy Thiruvoth starrer Puzhu and CBI Five are also Mammootty’s projects this year.
