Mani Ratnam, a renowned director, tested positive for COVID-19. As the historical drama is scheduled for release on September 30th of this year, the Ponniyin Selvan filmmaker was working on the post-production work of his upcoming magnum opus. He is receiving treated at a private hospital in Chennai. According to the sources, Mani Ratnam is now stable and showing no more signs of the illness.

 
Fans and friends of the legend have been wishing him a speedy recovery ever since word of his health update spread on social media.
 
On July 8th of this year in Chennai, Mani Ratnam had his most recent public appearance at the big teaser launch of his next film, Ponniyin Selvan. The movie lovers had a great response to the trailer. Ponniyin Selvan is based on a book of the same name and has Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, and Aishwarya Bachchan in prominent parts. It addresses the Chola dynasty's power struggle. The play traces Rajaraja Chola I's journeys.
 
The creators also presented the interesting character posters prior to the teaser. The magnum work is currently facing legal issues. A court summons was been issued to Mani Ratnam and Chiyaan Vikram for allegedly misrepresenting the Cholas in the teaser.
 
According to the case filed by a lawyer named Selvan, Aditya Karikalan, played by Chiyaan Vikram, had a tilak on his forehead on the poster but not in the teaser. He said that Ponniyin Selvan could have an inaccurate portrayal of the Cholas. The plaintiff has also sought the court to double-check all the historical details included in the movie before the public distribution.
