Mohanlal's Drishyam Franchise Goes International

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal gifted fans, with Drishyam, one of the most loved thrillers of all time. The film is directed by Jeethu Joseph and received a cult status. Several years later, the film had a sequel titled Drishyam 2. When sequels have mostly been disappointing, Drishyam 2 turned out to be yet another cracking thriller. Drishyam was remade in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi and turned out to be a hit film in all languages. Now, Drishyam finally goes global. The film's rights have been secured by Panorama Studios International Ltd. Soon, the two Drishyam films will be remade in English and several non-English languages. The films will also be made in languages such as Japanese, Korean, and Chinese to name a few. Fans have been quite happy ever since this news was made official by the concerned authorities. Meanwhile, reports are rife that Drishyam 2 is currently in the works.

On February 8, Panorama Studios International Ltd secured the rights of the two films to be remade in English and other non-English languages. Their statement read, "After the tremendous success of Drishyam 2 (in Hindi), Panorama Studios International Lt is pleased to announce that it has acquired remake rights of the Malayalam language films Drishyam and Drishyam 2 in all non-Indian languages. This includes all foreign languages including English, but excluding Filipino, Sinhala, and Indonesian. Adding to the multiple language rights for the film, we have also acquired the rights to the Chinese language remake of Drishyam 2. We are now in negotiations to produce the film in Korea, Japan, and Hollywood."
