‘Ponniyin Selvan’ Smashes Overseas Collection Records

Ponniyin Selvan, a Mani Ratnam multi-starrer, has already made Rs 230 crore at the box office in three days. As it enters its second week of screenings, the movie has been doing well. Since there aren't any other major films opening in theatres till Diwali, analytics predict that the film will gross Rs 500 crore at the box office over its run.

 
In addition to Tamil Nadu, 'Ponniyin Selvan' is reportedly doing exceptionally well in the international market. The movie enjoyed a successful opening weekend in the US, UK, Australia, and New Zealand. The Mani Ratnam-directed film reportedly earned $ 4 million in the US and currently holds the top rank among Kollywood productions. Additionally, the movie is doing well in Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, UAE, and Sri Lanka.
 
According to reports, the movie's foreign sales account for at least 30% of its total revenue, or Rs 230 crore. Previously, only Rajinikanth's "2.0" had a significant portion of the overseas earnings; however, there are now rumors that the movie will gross Rs 500 crore in two weeks. "Ponniyin Selvan" is Tamil cinema's largest international hit. The lead actors in "Ponniyin Selvan" include Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, and Trisha.
