'Ponniyin Selvan,' magnum opus of renowned filmmaker Mani Ratnam, debuted on September 30, 2022. The film debuted to a phenomenal reception from the crowd. The movie became the second Tamil movie, following Rajinikanth's 2.0, to enter the exclusive Rs. 500 crore club globally. It has surpassed SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2. Thus it became the highest-grossing movie in Tamil Nadu with total receipts of over Rs. 230 crores.
Fans of both the director and the book eagerly anticipate the second installment of the movie. The team will continue to film certain patchwork scenes for "PS-2" (Ponniyin Selvan 2) in January 2023. This is despite the fact that the film's main filming is already over.
The epic film stars a stellar cast including Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Trisha. The sequel to "PS-1," will release in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. The film will be released in the summer of 2023. The film's score will be by AR Rahman. The movie's second part will be released on April 28, 2023. The date was previously announced by the director Mani Ratnam.
