Ponniyin Selvan: Trisha Shares On Working With Aishwarya Rai: 'Mani Ratnam Sir Didn't Want Us To Get Along.'

The renowned director Mani Ratnam's passion project, Ponniyin Selvan, is preparing for a significant release on Friday, September 30. The historical drama, which is based on the popular book of the same name by Kalki Krishnamurthy, is expected to meet high expectations. The cast of Ponniyin Selvan, which will be released in two parts, includes some of the best-known actors in Indian film. In the movie, Trisha Krishnan plays the beloved role of Ilaya Piratti Kundavai Devi, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan plays the legendary role of Nandini.

As you may already be aware, Trisha and Aishwarya Rai play arch enemies in the masterpiece. Everyone enjoyed the confrontation between Nandini and Kundavai in the Ponniyin Selvan teaser. The principal females of the eagerly anticipated movie, however, have completely different relationships in real life. Trisha recently discussed her on-screen pairing with Aishwarya in an interview with NDTV, saying that the movie's director, Mani Ratnam, didn't want the two of them to get along. However, in contrast to their on-screen counterparts, the women got along great.

“I, fortunately, got to meet her and interact with her on Day 1 of my shoot, and she is beautiful inside out. And it was challenging because we are not supposed to like each other too much in this film. But we got along pretty famously on set. There were times when Mani Ratnam sir would come and say – you guys are talking too much. Stop talking, I can’t have this camaraderie for my scene”, Trisha recalled her time working with Aishwarya Rai on set.

“She is lovely to work with and I’m sure everyone who worked with her would agree with me. She is so warm and is one of THE most hardworking actors I’ve worked with. She spoke Sen-Thamizh like how it has to be spoken. She was getting ready with us at 2 a.m. I’m very honored that I could share screen space with her,” said the Ponniyin Selvan actress.
