The first part of Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan will be released on September 30. The movie's teaser was recently launched in grand style in Chennai and the teaser in various languages has been released by the leading actors from every industry. Although Mani Ratnam has only worked with Kamal Haasan on one movie, "Nayakan," the iconic 1987 action drama is still vivid in people's memories. Now Kamal Haasan will have a significant part in Mani Ratnam's "Ponniyin Selvan.
As per reports, Kamal Haasan will be giving the voice-over for the introduction of the story and the film's lead characters during the title card. It's going to be exciting to hear the history of the Chola dynasty through the voice of Ulaganaayakan. There was earlier a strong buzz that suggested Kamal Haasan’s plan of making a film based on the 'Ponniyin Selvan novel, but he couldn't attempt it.
Ponniyin Selvan is based on an epic novel of the same name by the famous writer Kalki Krishnamurthy. The screenplay was written by Mani Ratnam and B. Jayamohan. The film Ponniyin Selvan will feature a star cast including Aishwarya Rai, Karthi, Thrisha, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Ashwin Kakumanu, apart from Vikram. A. R Rahman composes Ponniyin Selvan’s score and soundtrack. Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies, along with Subashkaran under the banner of Lyca Productions, produce the film. Ponniyin Selvan is also the biggest budget film in India with a total budget of 500 crores. The film will have a worldwide theatrical release in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam on September 30.
