Remembering legendary Kannada actor Ambareesh on his birth anniversary

Kannada film industry has witnessed many star heroes over the years. One of them is Ambareesh. In a career spanning over four and a half decades, Ambareesh has acted in many memorable films. The actor has passed away in 2018. Today is the birth anniversary of him. On this occasion, let us revisit his career.

 
Ambareesh was born on 29th May 1952, in the Mandya district of Karnataka. He completed his schooling in Mandya and pursued his higher studies in Mysuru. Ambareesh made his acting debut with the 1972 film Nagarahaavu. He played a supporting role in this movie. Ambareesh is best known for his angry young man roles. He has acted in many super hit films like Antha, Elu Suttina Kothe, Hrudaya Haadithu, Diggajaru, Chakravyuha, Indrajith and Veera Parampare. In his entire career, Ambareesh has acted in 206 Kannada films as a lead hero. This is the most by any actor. This record is yet to get broken. Vishnu Vardhan and Rajkumar stand next to Ambareesh on this list.
 
Ambareesh married actress Sumalatha in 1991. The couple has a son named Abhishek Gowda. Ambareesh met Sumalatha on the sets of the 1984 film Aahuti. They developed bonding while they were working for the 1987 film New Delhi. After a couple of years, they decided to take a step ahead and got married in 1991.
 
Ambareesh was also active in politics. He worked as the Member of Parliament for three tenures. He also served as the Minister in the state and the central governments. He passed away on 24th November 2018 due to a cardiac arrest. Even though he is not among us, his works and films are keeping his legacy forward.
