Silambarasan aka Simbu was going through a rough patch in his life for the past few years. However, during the Covid-19 lockdown, He worked on his physique and presented a Simbu 2.0 version which surprised everyone. It is safe to say that he's got a new lease of life after his physical transformation. Soon, he joined hands with director Suseenthiran for Eeswaran, which hit the theatres this January. Last year, after a mini hiccup, Simbu started shooting for director Venkat Prabhu's Maanadu, which is produced by Suresh Kamatchi.
The film's shooting has been going on for over a year now. Due to the first and the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the shooting was put on hold twice. Now that the government has eased the restrictions, the makers resumed the shoot. According to producer Suresh Kamatachi, Simbu has completed the shoot with which Maanadu has been wrapped. The political film has some time-travel elements, told in a manner that is understood by the layman. Earlier, Maanadu was slated to release in June, but it has now been postponed due to the pandemic. The film also stars Kalyani Priyadarshan, SJ Suryah, Manoj Bharathiraja, SA Chandrasekhar and Karunakaran in lead roles. The film's release date will be announced once the post-production is complete.
