South films such as RRR, Pushpa, and KGF 2 dominated the box office, especially in the North belt. Soon after, there has been a discourse about North vs South films and many people were left taking sides. However, collectively, most of the stars said that cinema is universal and everyone should celebrate the cinema that appeals to them instead of pitting one industry against another. Sonali Bendre, who will be seen next in The Broken News, weighed in on the whole North vs South debate.
Sonali told IndiaToday.in said, "I think the films that have done well if you notice, it's because of the stories. It’s the stories that have done well. The way they have been shot and presented, the craft and talent have been appreciated. Even the actors gave their all. If you see, RRR, Jr NTR, and Ram Charan gave so many years of their life to that movie and I think they deserve every bit of that success, that is coming their way because they have worked really hard for it. think we are all Indians and whichever story works, we should all learn from that and move on from there and say yeah, something is working. We're coming out of a pandemic, people have not been going to the theaters."
