Director SP Jananthan had been working on his film Laabam starring Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan for about a year. Last week, when he was overseeing the editing of the film, he had decided to go home where he was found unconscious. Later, he was admitted to a hospital where he was receiving treatment. Unfortunately, he passed away due to cardiac arrest. Laabam's production house &C's Entertainment released a statement revealing that the film will be releasing in theatres in April in both Tamil and Telugu on a massive scale.
The statement read, "Director SP Jananthan has completed ost of the work pertaining to Laabam and the remaining work that is pending will be completed by our Laabam team. We, therefore, wish to inform you that as planned, we will be releasing Laabam in both Tamil and Telugu this April in theatres on a massive scale. There can be no doubt that Laabam will surpass the expectations of director SP Jananthan's fans and will be the crowning glory of the director's filmography. We are honoured to be able to bring to theatres the film conceived and directed by a visionary of our times, SP Jananthan, a human with unparalleled vision."
