The film industry is one of the few industries which got severely affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Due to this crisis, the Indian film industry has witnessed a loss of more than 1500 crore crisis. Many of the film laborers are daily wage workers. Due to the shut down of the shoots, all of them have lost their income source. To support such people in the Telugu film industry, the Tollywood bigwigs have setup the Corona Crisis Charity Fund.
Speaking about this CCC fund, Thammareddy Bharadwaj said, "We are witnessing the havoc that is being created by the coronavirus. Many of the film workers are struggling to survive in these tough times. The industry has always been in the frontline to support any cause from the beginning. In the past, the industry donated funds whenever a calamity happened. This time, our own workers are suffering from the issue. Megastar Chiranjeeviwanted to do something for them. Along with him, producer Suresh Babu, director N. Shankar, Kalyan, Damodar Reddy and myself formed this small committee to support our workers."
"As a first step, Megastar Chiranjeevi donated Rs. one crore towards the fund. Nagarjuna has donated one crore, Jr NTRdecided to give Rs. 25 lakhs," he further added. Earlier today, Mahesh Babu and Daggubati family members (Suresh Babu, Daggubati Venkatesh, and Rana Daggubati ) have announced donations to support film workers. While Mahesh donated Rs. 25 lakhs, the Daggubati family pledged an amount of Rs.1 crore. Even Ram Charan came forward to support the cause and donated Rs. 30 lakhs for the Corona Crisis Charity fund.
