The movie Varisu is scheduled to release in all countries in 2023 between Sankranthi and Pongal. The action drama will be released in both Tamil and Telugu under the titles Varisu and Varasudu. The movie is competing at the box office with three other films. These movies star the greatest superstars in Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh.
The Waltair Veerayya, Veera Simha Reddy, and Thunivu films starring Ajith Kumar, Balakrishna, and Chiranjeevi would compete at the box office with Thalapathy Vijay's movie. Ajith's Thunivu is also being released in Telugu. It goes under the name Thegimpu. The release of the Telugu version marked a fresh direction for the Thalapathy Vijay starrer's makers. They announced a new release date as well as the postponement of Varasudu.
Varasudu, the Telugu remake of Varisu, will be released on January 14 in contrast to Varisu's January 11 release date. This significant move by the producers will benefit the Telugu releases. Producer Dil Raju explained his reasoning for delaying Varasudu. He said, "I have said many times that Varasudu is not in any competition with Chiranjeevi's Waltair Veerayya and Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy. Varasudu is a complete family entertainer. I have shown family entertainers in the past for Sankranthi, so with the same thought I wanted to release Varasudu. But Balakrishna and Chiranjeevi garu need a huge release in Telugu states, so I took this decision positively to release my film later."
The movie's leads are Thalapathy Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna. The family comedy Varisu and Varasudu was launched on January 4. Varisu appears to be a complete masala entertainment if the trailer is any sign. It contains all the essential parts, such as music, drama, comedy, romance, and action.
