This Star Was The First Choice Of Mani Ratnam To Play His Nandini In Ponniyin Selvan

Mani Ratnam has accomplished a lifelong desire by creating the historical drama "Ponniyin Selvan," which is based on the novel of the same title by Kalki. Mani Ratnam split the movie into two parts after a number of stars decided not to participate. The first part will be released on September 30. Many people are unaware that Mani Ratnam intended to cast legendary actress Rekha for the dual roles of Nandini and her mother Mandakini Devi when he chose to begin "Ponniyin Selvan" in the early 1990s with Kamal Haasan. However, the project dropped, and it took the filmmaker till 2011 to decide to try again.

Mani Ratnam therefore decided right away to cast Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the dual roles of Nandini and her mother Mandakini Devi in "Ponniyin Selvan," and he was successful in doing so because the well-known Indian actress had already finished filming her scenes. The role of Nandini, the queen of Pazhuvur, played by Aishwarya Rai will be the most crucial one in the movie because it advances the plot.

Due to various circumstances, actors Mahesh Babu, Vijay, Suriya, Vijay Sethupathi, Silambarasan, Amala Paul, Keerthy Suresh, Arya, and Anushka Shetty were unable to participate in "Ponniyin Selvan." With Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Prakash Raj, Sarathkumar, R Parthiban, Vikram Prabhu, Prabhu, and Aishwarya Lekshmi among others playing significant roles, the historical drama is finally produced. AR Rahman composed the music for the movie.
