Venkat Prabhu and Premgi Amaren's mother dies at 69

Gangai Amaren is a celebrated music director and composer in the Tamil film industry. Even though he is the brother of Ilaiyaraaja, he made a name for himself with his talent. He has two sons - director Venkat Prabhu, actor and musician Premgi Amaren. Gangai Amaren's wife Manimegalai Gangai Amaren passed away on May 9 at around 11.30 om due to a brief illness. She was not infected with the coronavirus. Reportedly, she was rushed to hospital in Chennai where she breathed her last. Manimegalai was 69. Soon, celebrities took to Twitter to offer their condolences to Venkat Prabhu and Premgi Amaren.

Manimegalai's last rites will be held today. The entire Kollywood film fraternity were shocked to hear about the demise of Gangai Amaren's wife Manimegalai. Actor Jiiva wrote, "My heartfelt deepest condolences! @vp_offl @Premgiamaren Our love goes out to you brothers. Arun Vijay wrote, "My heartfelt condolences brother @vp_offl & @Premgiamaren. Really shocked to hear this news.May God give you'll the strength to overcome this irreplaceable loss. My prayers for Amma's soul to rest in peace. (sic)." Radikaa Sarathkumar wrote, "Our condolences to @vp_offl and @Premgiamaren and Gangai Amaran for their huge loss.I know your mom as a very special and lovely soul, may she rest in peace."
