Hard-hit Italy reported recent 475 deaths from the virus today. France imposed a Draconian lockdown unseen during peacetime. In the United States, the virus has now spread to all 50 states.
The coronavirus has now infected more than 200,000 people and killed more than 8,000 globally. Over 83,000 people have recovered, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
The World Health Organization (WHO) is calling for more "aggressive" action to curb coronavirus in Southeast Asia. After the European Union, now at the epicentre of the pandemic, moved to seal off its borders.
As the total number of coronavirus cases in India went up to 170. In Maharashtra, four more patients tested positive, continued to lead the list at 45. The Mumbai civic body prepared to welcome around 26,000 Indians expected to land in the city. Before March 31 they are coming to India from Covid-19-hit Gulf nations such as the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, and Oman. The people coming from Gulf countries will be directly sent to quarantine. After being 14 days in the quarantine, they will get discharged.
In total, 170 cases have recorded in the country — comprising 141 Indians, and 29 foreigners. Of the 141 cases, at 42 – the highest number of cases have been seen in Maharashtra, followed by Kerala at 25 and Uttar Pradesh at 16. Karnataka has seen 14 cases, Delhi has recorded 11, and Union Territory of Ladakh has recorded 8 cases
