CPI(M) worker in Tamil Nadu arrested for allegedly abusing Hindu Gods online

Police on Sunday arrested S Jayan, a CPI(M) worker in Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari. He allegedly abused Hindu Goddess Saraswathi and Lord Brahma on Facebook.

35-year-old S Jayan got arrested on a complaint filed by BJP’s Kanyakumari district advocates’ wing secretary R Savarkar. He alleged that Jayan’s post’s hatred towards Hinduism would create unrest in society.

"His posts portray Hinduism in poor light," a BJP worker said in the complaint. In a separate complaint, he was accused of spreading false information that a suspect in a ₹13 crore robbery case belonged to BJP.

“Ahead of Saraswati Pooja and Navaratri festival, Jayan had posted a few photos and writings on his Facebook post on Friday. These posts portray Hinduism in poor light,” Savarkar said in his complaint. “It is necessary to take action against Jayan for mocking Hindu Gods,” the BJP worker said in his complaint.
