Doctor's Protest: War between Mamta and doctors continues…
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been at loggerheads with the protesting junior doctors in Kolkata, an agitation that has now spread across the nation.
Mamata Banerjee is expected to meet Paribaha Mukhopadhyay, one of the interns who was assaulted at the NRS Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, on Saturday, 15 June.
Earlier on Saturday, striking junior doctors turned down the West Bengal CM’s second invitation for a meeting at the state secretariat. Protesting doctors have said they won't attend the meeting called by CM Mamata Banerjee at the state secretariat today.
The doctors, who are protesting against the assault on two of their colleagues at NRS Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, have sought an unconditional apology from Banerjee and set six conditions for the state government in order to withdraw the stir.
The state of West Bengal is witnessing massive protests by doctors, triggered after an attack on a junior doctor. According to Health Ministry sources, over 300 doctors from across the state have submitted their resignations till now.
