India chased down the target of 316 against West Indies in the final ODI in Cuttack on Sunday to win their last match of 2019 and clinch the three-match series 2-1.
A late cameo from Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja helped India chase down 316 vs West Indies after the fall of Virat Kohli in the 47th over. West Indies hit back with the wickets of Kedar Jadhav (8), Rishabh Pant (7), Shreyas Iyer (7) and KL Rahul (77) in quick succession after 100-plus opening stand between Rahul and Rohit Sharma (63) but Kohli anchored the record chase with his impeccable half-century (85) at Barabati stadium along with Ravindra Jadeja.
Earlier West Indies’ innings had powered by Nicholas Pooran and skipper Kieron Pollard who scored 89 and 74 respectively. They smashed Indian bowlers to all parts of the ground in death overs and scored 118 runs for the final 10 overs. Debutant Navdeep Saini shines by taking two crucial wickets of Hetmyer and Roston Chase who were set batsmen by then.
This is India's 10th straight ODI series victory against West Indies. India's current ODI series-winning streak against West Indies had started in 2007.
