It’s a black day in the history of Andhra Pradesh: Chandrababu
After being put under house arrest on Wednesday, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu said it's a black day in the history of Andhra Pradesh. "I'm warning [YSRCP] government, you cannot control us by arresting. We have been denied the right to give moral support to those who were victimized by the ruling party cadres. All that we wanted to do was to take out a rally and send the victims back to their villages. I don’t understand how it would lead to law and order breakdown" he added.
The ‘Chalo Atmakur’ protest rally has been called by the TDP over these alleged attacks on their cadres by the ruling YSRCP leaders. Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh were detained after TDP called for a protest march against alleged attacks by YSRCP workers on TDP workers. TDP leader Nara Lokesh stated, "This is the murder of democracy... This is a dictatorship." Lokesh added.
"The ruling party is trying to strangulate our party across Andhra Pradesh. We were doing our activities in a democratic manner but our entire leadership was put under house arrest. This is the murder of democracy" said Lokesh after being put under preventive house arrest along with his father N Chandrababu Naidu ahead of a protest march against the ruling YSRCP.
TDP has alleged that its eight workers were killed in the attacks by YSRCP leaders, most of them in Palnadu region. It claimed that 500 TDP activists and sympathizers were attacked since the announcement of election results in May.
