'Mamata’ has no affection, should change her name: BJP leader
A senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader, BJP National Vice President Shyam Jaju on Thursday has triggered a fresh controversy after saying that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee should change her name as she "lacks affection". "Her behavior and method of politics don't match her name," he added.
BJP national vice-president Shyam Jaju also put the blame for vandalizing Vidyasagar’s statue on TMC and said that the ruling party in the state did that to defame the BJP president and his roadshow.
Jaju further said that Mamata has lost her mental balance as she is worried about her party Trinamool Congress’ defeat. It is everyone’s right to participate and hold roadshow, rallies, and campaign for elections. She is trying to the throttle democracy for her selfish vote bank politics' defeat.
As a result of the clashes, the Election Commission of India banned any political rally or campaigns from being held in West Bengal from 10 pm on Thursday. Nine constituencies from West Bengal are going to polls in the seventh and final phase of elections on May 19.
