Narendra Modi, Sonia Gandhi, Mamta, Kejriwal pay tributes to Gandhi and Lal Bahudur Shahstri

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia on Wednesday paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and late PM Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries.

PM Narendra Modi paid tribute to late PM Lal Bahadur Shastri on the latter's 115th birth anniversary on Wednesday. PM Modi, who visited Vijay Ghat to pay his tribute, tweeted, "He had charged the nation with his call of 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan'." Later, President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President Venkaiah Naidu visited Vijay Ghat to pay their respects.

 
Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday said those who indulge in the politics of falsehood won't understand Mahatma Gandhi's sacrifices. "India and Gandhiji are synonymous. Yet some people want RSS to be synonymous with India," she added. Gandhiji's soul would pain to see what has been happening in India over the last few years, Sonia further said.
 
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia on Wednesday paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and late PM Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries. The duo first visited Vijay Ghat, the resting place of Shastri, and later went to Rajghat to pay homage to Gandhiji. Kejriwal tweeted, "Today is the birth anniversary of two great souls."
 
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary on Wednesday. She tweeted, "The historic Gandhi Bhavan in Beleghata, renovated by #Bangla Govt, will be inaugurated today. The #Bangla Govt has taken up many other initiatives to celebrate #Gandhi150 anniversary, including setting up a university dedicated to #MahatmaGandhiji in Purba Medinipur district."
