After NCP leader Ajit Pawar went on to support BJP and took oath as Maharashtra Deputy CM, Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi tweeted, "Pawarji tussi great ho!" "Candidly & personally speaking, our tripartite negotiations should not have gone on for more than 3 days and took too long," he added. BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the Chief Minister for the second term.

Minutes after the oath-taking, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted congratulating Fadnavis and Pawar. Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar both said that the state needed a stable government and not a 'khichdi’. The BJP won 105 seats, while the Shiv Sena won 56 seats in the Assembly elections. Opposition Congress won 44 seats, while the NCP won in 54 constituencies.
