A 24-year-old woman, died after doctors at a government hospital in Tamil Nadu's Virudhachalam who performed Caesarean delivery left a cloth inside her body cavity and stitched her up.
 
Her husband claimed she started forgetting and vomited whatever she ate. He took her to JIPMER, where doctors diagnosed her with severe infection and showed the cloth left inside her body.
 
Priya got killed allegedly due to the negligence of doctors in the Vridhachalam government hospital, where she delivered her baby on December 27. The doctors who performed the C-Section allegedly left a cloth inside the body cavity and stitched Priya up, which led to sepsis and her untimely death.
 
“She was not lactating enough and was vomiting whatever she ate. By December 30, things were really bad. She started forgetting us and showed phases of disorientation. She could only recognize me and not her child. She couldn’t recognize her own mother by December 31. She constantly looked at the ceiling and did not talk to any of us,” he explains.
 
The couple lived in Kalar Kuppam near Aladi, around 60 kilometers from the coastal town of Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu. After a year of marriage, Priya conceived their first child.
