Director Seenu Ramaswamy says that he thought that Mammootty could do the movie ‘Mamanithan’. He added that later came to Vijay Sethupathi when Mammootty had date problems. Seenu Ramaswamy, who arrived in Kerala, said this at a function held in Kochi as part of the promotion of ‘Mamanithan’.
“I am very proud to see your love for Vijay Sethupathi. After writing the movie Mamanithan, I wanted to do this movie with Mammootty sir. And saw him once. Then I could not see him. He was very busy.
Vijay Sethupathi came to my line again when I thought of such an actor, a real artist like Mammootty or Mohanlal Sir, an artist who makes realistic films and commercial films. He said that he could listen to the story and act in it. Vijay Sethupathi will not be playing a role as he has done before. Vijay Sethupathi has done a different kind of acting, not acting, but his life in this film;” said Seenu.
He also said that Vijay Sethupathi will play three getups in the film. “Movies that give prominence to hero and heroine are not coming out in Tamil now. Comes in Kerala and other languages. Thus, Vijay Sethupathi acted in a movie where the hero and heroine get screen space. He has acted in this movie in three getups. He appears in the film as a 20-year-old, 40-year-old, and then 45-year-old Getup. The young actresses were approached to act in the film but no one was ready. Thanks to Gayathri for coming and acting in this;” Seenu Ramaswamy added.
Vijay Sethupathi and Gayathri were in Kochi with Seenu Ramaswamy. KPAC Lalitha and Guru Somasundaram play two important roles in the film which is set in a rural setting.
