The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the dynamics of the film industry. As the theaters got shut from the last two and a half months, a few producers are now opting for the direct digital release. Many films that have failed to hit the theaters due to the pandemic are now finding their way to the digital release. From the past few days, it is being rumored that Malayalam Megastar Mammootty's upcoming film One is also going for a direct OTT release. However, the makers denied these rumors. They said that One will hit the screens once the situation settles down.
In an officially released press statement, the makers said, "We would like to bring it to your kind attention that, we are not planning to release our movie ONE through OTT platforms. We are looking at a theatrical release of ONE once the pandemic situation settles down and we get back to normalcy. Taking a moment to express our gratitude and respect to everyone in the front line relentlessly working to tackle the existing challenges. Until then, let's stay united in our distances."
Directed by Santosh Vishwanath, One is a political thriller that featured Mammootty as the Chief Minister of Kerala. Nimisha Sajayan, Joju George, and Mathew Thomas played the other important roles in this film. The first look poster of the film got released earlier this year. It got a terrific response from the audience. It was initially slated for the release on May 22. But the pandemic didn't allow that to happen. Thus, the team will now look for another release date. They will announce the new release date once things come back to normalcy.
