Last year, there were reports of Dhanush thinking of his next directorial venture. However, Dhanush then got busy working for Vetrimaaran’s Asuran and his venture stood halted temporarily. Dhanush’s first directorial venture Paa Pandiyan was well received. The latest buzz is that Dhanush is all set to take on his second directorial venture. Rumour has it that the film titled Naan Rudran will have a stellar cast of Nagarjuna, Aditi Rao Hydari, SJ Suryah, and many more. Sources say that the film might be set in the pre-independence era. An official statement is yet to arrive.
Reports say that Dhanush is looking to cast an ensemble cast. The cast includes actors Nagarjuna, Aditi Rao Hydari, SJ Suryah, Sarathkumar, Srikanth. An official announcement is yet to arrive with regard to the cast. Thenandal Studios will produce the film. The film is a bilingual film that will hit the theatres in Tamil and Telugu.
In an interview, Nagarjuna had spoken of his character, stating that he will take on the role of someone from 600 years ago! "It's a period drama and this role is extra special to me because I've attempted something I've never done before. I play a character which goes 600 years back in time. It's an interesting role," Nagarjuna told The Times Of India.
Meanwhile, Dhanush was last seen in the film Pattas earlier this year. The film failed to achieve success. Dhanush was however praised for carrying the film on his back. He will next appear in the Jagame Thandhiram. The film also features Aishwarya Lekshmi and James Cosmo in lead roles and Joju George and Kalaiyarasan in supporting roles. The team had wrapped up the film and the film was to hit the theatres on May 1st, 2020. However, owing to the coronavirus outbreak, the film’s release stands postponed. He will also appear in the Mari Selvaraj directorial Karnan. Dhanush will also star in the Bollywood film Atrangi Re along with Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan.
