Mammootty's first theatrical release of the year is Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam. Mammootty's first film with Lijo Jose Pellissery, one of the most notable directors of the new generation, premiered at the recent IFFK. But the theatrical release was on January 19. The Tamil Nadu release of the film, which was shot entirely in Tamil Nadu, was the other day. Even after its release in Tamil Nadu, the film is getting good reviews. Famous director Karthik Subbaraj has now shared his experience of watching the film.
Sharing the Tamil poster of the film, Karthik's assessment is in short words. "#NanpakalNerathuMayakkam is So Beautiful and Refreshing @mammukka sir was so awesome. Pls don't miss Lijo's Magic in theatres... @mrinvicible & whole cast n crew;" wrote Karthik on Twitter.
Tamilnadu is more than just a setting in the film. Rather, it is very important to the narrative of the film. Mammootty will appear in two roles in the film as Malayali James and Tamilian Sundaram. A feature of the film is the different levels of presentation and character creation. Lijo has made Nanpakal with a different approach from his previous films. Nanpakal is different from the thematic premises of the characters that Mammootty has played so far in his career. He has managed to bring that variety to his performances as well. Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam is also Mammootty's first film under the banner Mammootty Kampany. The film has been released by Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Films. The film is continuing to run in theatres with packed audience everywhere. Mammmootty's performance in the film is being appreciated as well.
