As part of the tradition, Mammootty served special Malabari biryani to Suriya and Jyothika while the Jai Bhim actor was visiting the Kaathal: The Core set.
The National Award-winning actor Suriya recently made waves after he stopped by the Kaathal: The Core set with his wife Jyothika and megastar Mammootty. The film, which is billed as a social drama, is currently being filmed in Ernakulam, Kerala. Suriya, who paid a visit to Mammootty and Jyothika, is said to have spent some time on the sets and had lunch with the crew. On the other side, the megastar gave the beloved couple a special Malabar biryani meal.
The megastar, who is renowned for serving extravagant Malabar biryani lunches to the cast and crew of each of his movies, continued this tradition for Suriya and Jyothika as well. A senior biryani cook from Calicut, the home of Malabar cuisine, was reportedly asked by Mammootty to make biryani for Suriya and Jyothika. The images and videos were taken on the Kaathal: The Core set show Mammootty personally feeding biryani to the charming pair, and they have since gone popular on the internet.
For those who are unaware, Mammootty and his close friend Mohanlal started the custom of hosting a special lunch on each movie set. When they were filming the hit Harikrishnans, which was released in 1998, the megastar would regularly send lunch for him and his co-star Mohanlal. Sulfath, Mammootty's wife, personally prepared the dinner. Following Mohanlal's insistence—who is a big fan of Sulfath's recipes—Mammootty made the decision to treat the team to the biryani his wife had made. The megastar started throwing a special biryani lunch for the cast and crew of all of his films over time, turning it into a tradition.
Kaathal: The Core, directed by The Great Indian Kitchen's Jeo Baby and featuring Mammootty and Jyothika, is billed as a social drama. In the movie, Jyothika plays the part of the politician's wife while the megastar is portraying a local politician who adheres to communist principles. The megastar himself is in charge of producing the eagerly awaited undertaking through his own company, Mammootty Kampany.
