Members of the Valmiki community stage a massive protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru seeking a 7.5% reservation for Scheduled Tribes. Valmiki protesters headed by Prasanna Nanda puri Swamiji of Valmiki Gurupeeta to stage dharna at Freedom Park. The seer has been holding padayatra since June 9. He started his padayatra at Rajanahalli in Davanagere and entered Bengaluru through Chitradurga, Tumakuru, Doddaballapura, and Devanahalli. Thousands of Valmiki community members from across Karnataka gather at Freedom Park for the mega protest. The Valmiki community is demanding more representation for their community in government jobs and educational institutions, They are demanding the state government to increase the quota.
