The story of Bhanwar is about a couple Ranvir Makhija and Kanika Makhija, played by Karanvir Bohra and Priya Banerjee respectively, who acquire a lavish apartment at an undear price only to discover later that it is haunted. Now the crux of the story, without a spoiler, is that the place is possessed by the ghost of none other than the couplet itself.
Bhanwar web series has been shot with a pint-sized star cast where Karanvir Bohra and Priya Banerjee are positioned as reel husband and wife while Teejay Sidhu (appeared as Sam), is roped in a special appearance. It would be the first time when the TV actor Karanvir Bohra will be sharing screen space with his better half. The audience can see other star casts in the series who do not have a much screen presence.
The only positives about Bhanwar are the chemistry between Karan and Priya with a remarkably-original concept. The entire Bhanwar project is helmed by the actor Karanvir Bohra himself. The actor, during the lockdown, stepped into the shoes of the director and led the supernatural web-series on his shoulders. Another reason to hop onto this time-travel enigma is because of its curtailed duration. There are a total 8 episodes in Bhanwar where each of them falls behind 15 minutes of runtime.
Bhanwar in narration gives the impression of being auspicious but fails miserably when it comes to the execution of the same on the screen. The web-series, based on the supernatural theme, managed to garner a decent buzz before its release but fell headlong before it could have a long run.
Overall Zee5’s this psychological supernatural thriller, with a bit tanginess of horror, lacks to be an entertaining and exciting watch. Bhanwar not only appears as a puny version of a Hollywood time-travel drama but also cringes the audience by a deadpan cast and sloppy editing. It is better to pass over this paranormal story and give plenty of other psychological flicks a watch rather than getting caught into the Bhanwar of this BHANWAR.
