Cab Stories Story:
Following a mishap, Giri (Giridhar), a cab driver slips a drug packet into his customer Shalini’s (Divi Vadthya) handbag. All hell breaks loose after a gang of goons target Giri, demanding him to return the packet. The rest of the story unveils Giri’s pursuit of Divi and the drug packet she unintentionally possesses.
Cab Stories Analysis:
Cab Stories gets off to a reasonably good start with the episode related to a misplaced drugs packet evoking interest. But things go haywire post the 10-minute mark. Unnecessary subplots pertaining to the female lead’s love life and her friend dealing with a lusty boss take the Center stage. These sequences are least bit engaging.
Divi looks beautiful on screen but her character doesn’t demand the best of an actor. She performs to the best of her capabilities. Giri, a seasoned actor looks settled. The antagonist thread is poorly written and that takes a toll on the establishment of the core conflict.
The director KVN Rajesh tries to add multiple layers to supposed suspense drama but none of them are gripping enough. One would wonder what the main plot(misplaced drug packet) has to do with a young lady coping with a lusty and ill-mannered boss. Incoherent sequences like these make Cab Stories a sloppy film.
Sai Kartheek’s background score is immersive and gels with the theme. Sujatha Siddharth’s cinematography is impressive as well. Editing should have been better.
The opening exchanges are slightly better when compared to what follows. The films ends on a cryptic note, with the narrative suggesting there is a second instalment to follow.
Cab Stories Verdict:
Cab Stories is a sloppy and incoherent suspense drama with very few things going its way. Wayward narration and abysmal set-up act against the cause. The film makes for a bad viewing.
