Facing Shortage Of Key Drug Used For Black Fungus Treatment
Amphotericin B, an anti-fungal injection used to treat mucormycosis, which is also known as ‘black fungus’ has gone out of stock in the Indore district due to its soaring demand. MP Chemists’ Association vice-president Dharmendra Kothari said, “The anti-fungal drug is out of stock in the district because of a sudden increase in demand. The demand has picked up so much that even if there are over 200 vials, they are sold within a day.” “The situation before the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic was not such when hardly 200 vials were required in a year,” added Kothari.
