HC orders AP govt. to conduct gram panchayat polls
High Court (HC) has ordered Andhra Pradesh (AP) government to conduct gram panchayat polls, within the next three months. It struck down G.O.90 issued by AP government. HC had given similar directions to Telangana government sometime back. Within three months or before January, AP should hold gram panchayat elections, the HC ordered. In Telangana, Assembly elections are being held in December. So gram panchayat elections can be held only after that. What response AP government has to these orders is to be awaited.
