Azhikode MLA has been disqualified. It was on the basis of the petition filed by opposition candidate MV Nikesh Kumar, which accused KM Shaji of promoting racism for getting votes that High Court disqualified Shaji for the next six years. Shaji and UDF have questioned the possibility of winning using communalism in the constituency where only 21 percentage were Muslims. But this was not enough to convince the court.
