Knives Out Movie Review:
Knives Out is a 2019 American mystery film written, produced and directed by Rian Johnson. Described as a modern take on the whodunit murder mystery genre, the film follows a family gathering gone horribly awry, after the family patriarch's death leads a master detective to investigate. The film stars an ensemble cast, including Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Lakeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Christopher Plummer.
This movie is as brilliant as a murder mystery can get. It's a classic who-done-it crime/detective story set in modern-day 2019. It's directed beautifully and the cinematography is on point. It also has funny elements, which were not assumed when the trailer had released.
The performances in this movie are fantastic, especially by Bond himself, Daniel Craig. He carries this movie and honestly his character is an absolute joy to watch. The rest of the cast is great as well, notable performances from Ana De Armas and Chris Evans.
The narrative and writing is also very well done by Rian Johnson.
Some of the characters are there just for comedic effect, which actually benefits the film. It adds the factor of entertainment to the narrative.
The opening sequence is just perfect, the sound design fits perfectly. It's funny when needed and suspenseful where needed. Knives Out hit all the checkpoints of a good solid movie.
Definitely check this one out. It's really good, really enjoyable and an absolute killer. This film earned an A- from Cinemascore, (8.3/10) from Rotten Tomatoes and a 95% from Rotten Tomatoes’ verified user ratings. If this isn't a good reason to watch this film, we don't know what it is!
