Manohar (Sivakarthikeyan) is a fun loving guy working in a car showroom and he meets Keerthana Vasudevan (Nayanthara), head of a production company, in a minor accident. Ever since they meet, they fight over the silliest of things to prove who's the boss of the other.
Eventually, Manohar falls in love with Keerthana, but the latter fails to reciprocate it. She also goes to the extent of putting him in jail. In the end, how both characters find a middle ground and fall in love forms the story.
Sivakarthikeyan as Manohar is convincing and seems at ease playing the role. He has mass moments, lengthy dialogues, slo-mo shots, and neatly choreographed stunt sequences to prove his mettle.
Nayanthara plays a bold role, who is quite egoistical as well. In fact, her character is the modern version of Vijayshanthi's character from yesterday Rajinikanth's film Mannan.
Radikaa Sarathkumar plays Sivakarthikeyan's mother and has delivered an over exaggerated performance. Harija, Yogi Babu, Sathish, Thambi Ramaiah, and Robo Shankar do the needful as supporting actors.
Director Rajesh seems to have had a solid one-line to develop into a simple yet interesting script. His writing takes a beating, but his comedy sense is visible in parts.
Both Nayanthara and Sivakarthikeyan's performance are perfect for the film. They look extremely good together and has a good chunk of portions in the second half, which is quite bearable.
The screenplay of Mr Local is so pathetic that there is no solid story at all. The film is underwhelming and the dialogues are unbearable in the first half especially.
There a bunch of comedians in the movie yet they fail to invoke laughter for the most part. Most of their one-liners are cliched, old and easily predictable.
Rajesh has written several unwanted sequences just to show Sivakarthikeyan in a larger than life image. Nayanthara looks ethereal in the movie, however, her character is contradictory.
There is no solid reasoning behind every single plot point and the story just goes on like how any boring commercial entertainer would.
Mr Local is a film that is underwhelming on so many levels. Right from the story to comedy, everything falls flat and there are no solid things to hold on to. If you enjoy cliched jokes and boring one-liners, then this is a film tailor-made for you.
