In 2021, Rahul Sankrityan directed Shyam Singha Roy, an Indian Telugu-language courtroom romance drama film based on a Janga Satyadev narrative. Along with Sai Pallavi, Krithi Shetty, and Madonna Sebastian, Nani plays a dual role in the movie. It is centred on the idea of reincarnation and is partially set in Kolkata in the 1970s.
Principal photography for the movie took place in Hyderabad and Kolkata from December 2020 to July 2021. It was confirmed in February 2020. The COVID-19 epidemic caused a delay in both production and release. On December 24, 2021, Shyam Singha Roy was released in theatres to mixed reviews, with some complimenting the acting and others criticising the plot.
