Sangathamizhan Movie Story:

Murugan (Vijay Sethupathi) is an aspiring actor looking for opportunities in Chennai. He roams around aimlessly with his friend (Soori). One day, Murugan sees a top industrialist Sanjay's (Ravi Kishan) daughter (Raashi Khanna) and they fall in love with each other.

Sanjay wants to kill Murugan and then realizes he looks just like his arch-enemy Sanga Thamizhan (played by Vijay Sethupathi again). In the flashback, Sanga Thamizhan stopped the entry of Sanjay's factory in the village.

Now that Murugan looks like Sangathamizhan, Sanjay strikes a deal with him and takes his help to establish the copper factory in the village. He plans to use Murugan to convince the villagers.

Sangathamizhan Movie Performances:

Vijay Sethupathi is one of the nuanced performers in the industry and playing the roles of Murugan and Sanga Thamizhan is a cakewalk to him. His performance is easily the most redeeming factor in the film.

Raashi Khanna is doing a great job in picking roles that give her due credit. She is not just eye candy in the Tamil films that she has done so far. Likewise, Sanga Thamizhan will be a nice addition to her list.

Nivetha Pethuraj, too, has a decent role to play in the film and she has delivered a neat performance that brings out her best.

Soori has been ridiculous in the last couple of films. His last film Namma Veetu Pillai turned out to be pretty decent and Sangathamizhan joins the list too. The actor has delivered a subtle performance.

Sangathamizhan Movie Positives:

Director Vijay Chandar's story is not a unique one. We have seen and heard these stories before too. But, he has incorporated a handful of twists and turns that made the film decent enough to watch.

The romantic portions between Vijay Sethupathi and Raashi Khanna are a delight to watch out for. Their little expressions made the entire stretch bring a smile on to our faces.

Vivek and Merwin's peppy music, especially the Kamala Kalasa song suits the theme of the film very well. The background music, too, is not too jarring and elevates the scene perfectly.

Sangathamizhan Movie Negatives:

The main problem with Sangathamizhan is that it's too cliched and predictable. You can almost guess what's going to happen in the next frame and that's what makes the first half a little boring.

The action sequences look a little ridiculous as we have been used to Vijay Sethupathi being realistic on screen.

Sangathamizhan Movie Verdict:

Sangathamizhan released after a lot of struggles. It is a decent watch and can be devoured with the family audience who loves watching Vijay Sethupathi do his magic on screen.
