'Akhanda 2' collected Rs. 142 crore worldwide in its opening weekend, marking the second-biggest debut for a Telugu film in 2025. The Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer opened on Thursday and sustained strong momentum through Sunday across domestic and international circuits.
The three-day haul positions the film behind only 'Pushpa 2: The Rule', which recorded Rs. 294 crore in its first weekend earlier this year. 'Akhanda 2' outpaced recent Telugu releases including 'Game Changer' and 'Daaku Maharaaj' in the same opening window.
Domestic collections accounted for Rs. 98 crore of the total, with the Telugu states contributing Rs. 76 crore. Overseas markets added Rs. 44 crore, led by North America where the film grossed $2.8 million across 450 locations. The opening day alone brought in Rs. 55 crore globally.
Director Boyapati Srinu's action drama benefited from advance bookings that crossed Rs. 18 crore two days before release. The film opened on 3,200 screens in India and 1,100 screens internationally. Occupancy rates averaged 68 percent on Thursday and held at 62 percent through the weekend in Tier-1 cities.
The sequel arrives three years after 'Akhanda', which collected Rs. 128 crore in its full theatrical run. Trade analysts project the follow-up will cross Rs. 200 crore by the end of its first week if weekday drops stay below 40 percent. The film faces competition from 'Sankranthiki Vasthunam' releasing this Friday.
