'Maa Inti Bangaram' collected $12,500 from overseas markets on its opening day, marking a modest start for the Telugu family drama in international territories.

The film, which released on Friday, earned the bulk of its overseas revenue from the United States, where it collected $8,200 across 15 locations. The United Kingdom contributed $2,100, while the Middle East markets brought in $1,800. Australia and other territories accounted for the remaining $400.

The overseas performance reflects the film's positioning as a niche family entertainer rather than a mass-market release. Trade analysts note that Telugu films in this genre typically rely on domestic circuits for the majority of their revenue, with overseas collections serving as supplementary income rather than a primary revenue driver.

The film stars Suhasini Maniratnam and Harshith Reddy in lead roles, with direction by Suresh Thirumur. The narrative centres on generational conflict within a middle-class Telugu household, a theme that resonates more strongly with local audiences than diaspora viewers.

Domestic collections for Day 1 have not been disclosed yet. The film opened across 180 screens in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with early reports suggesting steady footfalls in B and C centres. The overseas figure, while modest, aligns with pre-release expectations for a film of this scale and genre.

The production budget is estimated at Rs. 4 crore, with theatrical rights sold for Rs. 3.2 crore across all territories. The film needs to sustain through the weekend to reach the break-even mark, with OTT rights expected to provide additional revenue post-theatrical run.

'Maa Inti Bangaram' faces competition from holdover releases in overseas markets, including the Hindi film 'Khel Khel Mein' and the Tamil release 'Demonte Colony 2', both of which continue to draw diaspora audiences in their second week. The film's performance through the weekend will determine its staying power in international circuits.
